Nuuksio70 Trail Ultra is a 70km ultra trail in one loop across beautiful Nuuksio forests. One of its kind in Southern Finland, Nuuksio70 is an unforgettable experience for seasoned trail runners. Finishers will be awarded with ITRA ranking points and four UTMB qualification points, worth coming event from abroad!
Nuuksio70 course is very special. There are no moutains in Finland but vast forests, tens of lakes and small trails in Nuuksio National Park near Helsinki offer something else: The course consists almost completely of narrow, natural single track trails that are slow but you can still actually run them because big, steep ascends and descents are missing. However, the terrain has a lot of smaller hills of 20-50m vertical difference, and the cumulative ascent on the 70k course is approximately +1500m.
The course is based on Nuuksio Classic Trail Marathon. To this 42k loop we are adding two additional sections in different parts of the area. The fist extra loop, about 10k, deviates from the marathon course after about 16km of running. The second new loop adds about 20k to the marathon distance takes runners to the North-Western and Western parts of the national park. The last 10k of the course, ultra runners will enjoy the company of marathoners.
Nuuksio70 aid stations include the three main aid stations of the marathon plus one additional water station on both extra loops. All energy is carried by runners from the start. See Nuuksio70 course in Movescount and download it to your own GPS watch.
Not for beginners
Nuuksio70 is a challenging ultra run with plenty of slow sections. We recommend it only to runners who have finished at least one Nuuksio Classic Trail Marathon or another trail marathon or a longer trail run before. 100 first registered runners will fit in.
The course will be marked with the high Nuuksio Classic standard but the additional loops will not have as many officials along the course as the marathon distance. Note also that in terms of energy supply, runners are self-supported.
Nuuksio70 starts at 6:00am and the finish line closes 6:30pm. This leaves 12,5 hours to finish the course. There will be cut-off points in the last half of the course where runners are guided to a shorter course. Finishing the full course is realistic from the fitness level if you have run Nuuksio Classic marathon distance in or sub-6h.
