An important goal in Nuuksio Classic is the health and safety of the participants. During the pandemic, minimizing the risk of corona infection in the event is an essential part of the health aspect.
These instructions describe the key actions related to Covid-19 safety. They follow the guidelines issued by the Regional State Administrative Agency on August 20th and the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare on May 31st.
Foreign participants registered for the event: Due to possible difficulties in travel arrangements and travel restrictions from certain countries, foreign participants may choose to cancel their participation at no cost or postpone it until next year. Please contact us by email, nuuksioclassic@gmail.com.
To ensure the safety of all persons arriving at the event, both participants and volunteers should read these instructions carefully and act in accordance with the instructions.
This article is a summary of more comprehensive safety guidelines that describe e.g. the procedure at the start and in aid stations during the race.
1. Don’t participate if you have flu symptoms
You should not enter Nuuksio Classic if any mild symptoms suggestive of illness occur within 10 days before the event. If you experience Covid-19 related symptoms, you may postpone the run until next year by email without a medical certificate, nuuksioclassic@gmail.com. Participation is possible after a negative Covid-19 test result and two asymptomatic days.
2. Avoid unnecessary physical contacts at the event
The event will be held in an unrestricted outdoor space. All activities are carried out in such a way that participants can maintain an adequate safety distance from other people. However, you are responsible for maintaining safety distance yourself.

3. Take care of hand and cough hygiene
All participants and officials are required to wear face masks in the competition center area and in the charter bus. Participants are not required to wear a face mask during the run. At the finish, race officials will remind participants to wear mask and, if necessary, hands out a disposable mask.
Hand sanitizer is available indoors, outdoors and along the route at aid stations. Aid station officials are wearing FFP2 mask and gloves. Runners are not filling cups and bottles themselves, officials will do this for the runner.
If you sneeze or cough, protect your mouth with a napkin or sleeve. Remember to put used napkins and masks in the trash bins, don’t litter!
4. Cleaning
The premises in the event center are cleaned in accordance with the cleaning instructions of the National Institute of Occupational Health. The toilets in the start area are cleaned between the start groups.
5. If coronavirus infection is detected in Nuuksio Classic
If an infection is detected in Nuuksio Classic, those exposed to it are traced and the infection chains are investigated according to the operating model of the hospital district or the municipality. If necessary, the contact information included in the registration information will be used to reach the exposed persons.
